The giant wooden troll that was beloved by many was a victim of his own popularity last year. Isak was so impressive that people from all over Colorado came to see him in person. The original site of the troll was not meant for that many people, so the town decided to remove him from the area. If you missed your chance to see this incredible piece of art in person, don’t worry! Isak Heartstone lives on in a new, better location for all to enjoy!
The new location will be easily accessible, away from residential areas, and will have plenty of parking. The Town of Breckenridge is building a new trail leading to the troll that can be accessed via parking at the Steven C. West Ice Arena. For more thorough directions, ask the friendly staff at Alpine Meadows Property Management. The troll/trail will be open by mid-June.
About the Artist: Danish artist Thomas Dambo has created nearly 50 wooden trolls around the world. They are built from recycled materials as he is trying to bring awareness to “reusing everything we can”. If you visit Isak Heartstone this summer, make sure you are respecting nature, the troll’s surroundings, and don’t litter – or else “the troll will eat you!” – Thomas Dambo joking of course.
