Nestled in the heart of Breckenridge along the Swan River rests Isak Heartstone , also known as the Breckenridge Troll. Danish artist Thomas Dambo created this large-scale, wooden, and metal statue. Indian Hot Springs has been a relaxing environment for adults and children for the last 100 years. The world-famous destination boasts private baths, outdoor Jacuzzis, and mineral water swimming pool filled with 115-degree water sourced directly from their springs. However, the staff keeps the water temperature between 90 and 100 degrees. Indian Hot Springs also has gender exclusive geothermal caves, which house several sunken, walk-in hot tubs. Guests must be above 16-years-old to enjoy the geothermal caves.

Mt. Princeton Hot Springs

Drive south of Breckenridge, over Hoosier Pass, to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs located in Colorado’s tallest mountains. Mt. Princeton boasts a historic bath house, creekside hot springs, pools, and a 400-foot water slide. The water temperature varies throughout Mt. Princeton, but is typically kept around 100-degrees. The body conWhen the leaves have reached the ground, and the temperature begins to fall, Breckenridge hiking trails are at their peak visiting season. Guests don’t need to hike far to see the breathtaking scenery and hear the raging waterfalls. Keep in mind, waterfall hikes in Breckenridge vary from season to season. So no matter how many times you explore these waterfall hikes, you’re always going to have a one-of-a-kind experience.

McCullough Gulch

There are two trails you can hike from McCullough Gulch. The newest parking lot is seven miles south of Breckenridge on the right side of Highway 9. This parking lot leads to a gorgeous trail, which partway through turns into an old road. Take this path until you see a rocky stream; this stream will lead you to McCullough Gulch. If you’re looking for a shorter hike to see McCullough Gulch, park at the end of County Road 851. This starting point calls for a 1.3-mile walk.

Mohawk Lakes - Continental Falls

Continentals Falls is best known as Breckenridge’s largest waterfall. Guests claim to hear the waterfall crash into its three chasms from the start of a 6.7-mile round trip, Spruce Creek Trail (one of the most hiked trails in Breckenridge.) There are multiple switchbacks for you to explore along the way. Some of the smaller trails lead to the edge of Continental Falls. Here, you’ll catch unforgettable views and perfect photo opportunities. To access Spruce Creek Trail, turn right down Spruce Creek Road and follow signs until you see the main trailhead parking lot.

Mohawk Lakes - Between the Lakes

Once you reach the top of the hill and have a clear view of Lower Mohawk Lake, you may need to rest before continuing your climb. Walk around the lake until you see ascending trails. If you follow the stream of water, you’ll end up at the great, Mohawk Lake! Be sure to stay on the rocks once you arrive at Mohawk Lakes, so the alpine trees aren’t disturbed.

Blue Lakes - Monte Cristo Gulch

To explore Monte Cristo Gulch, start on Blue Lakes Road. Unlike the hike you took to see McCullough Gulch to the right of the trail, you’ll want to walk straight until you see Monte Cristo Creek. Keep your eyes peeled for the small waterfall, which is visible from the road to Monte Cristo Gulch. If you’d like, stop to explore the Granite cliffs and meadows full of wildflowers between the lakes (there’s parking below the upper dam.)
