A Guide to the Top Breckenridge Hiking Trails
Whether you are an avid hiker or someone who prefers more of a leisurely nature walk, there are plenty of trails around Breckenridge for all skill levels.
Sawmill Reservoir is an easy 1.3-mile hike that features a lake and is perfect for any skill level.
Start at the Burro Trailhead and hike to Fancie’s Cabin along this trail near Breckenridge. This 8-mile out and back trail, a moderate trail, will take you through meadows and a pine forest on a family-friendly path.
Those looking for a quick hike will enjoy the Iowa Hill .6-mile loop trail. The trailhead is right off Airport Road and is ideal for hikers, walkers, and runners.
Hike through beautiful wildflowers on the Sallie Barber Mine Trail. This 2.8-mile out and back trail is suitable for hikers of any skill level, and dogs and horses are allowed on the trail as well.
If you’re looking for a little bit of a challenge, try the Spruce Creek Trail to Mohawk Lake and Continental Falls. While this loop trail is only 6 miles, the second half does feature a steeper incline. The views along the way make the extra effort worth it.
Start at McCullough Gulch #43 and hike along an old mining road through the McCullough Gulch drainage. Stay on the trail, and you’ll eventually turn onto part of the trail that takes you to views of White Falls.
The Carter Park Trail starts at the end of the parking lot north of the tennis courts. Enjoy a hike that intersects with several other area trails like Sunbeam Trail, Hermit Placer Trail, Moonstone Trail, and Jack’s Cruel Joke.
