What to Expect from a Breckenridge Independence Day

Every year, cities across the country throw festivities big and small to celebrate Independence Day. Breckenridge is just one of those cities. For the entire day, Main Street closes and becomes one big party. Portions of the road are closed until 6 p.m., but other sections open right after the parade. 

The schedule is full of fun activities everyone will enjoy, including:

• A 10K trail race that has you enjoying some of the best views in the area. Registration can sell out quickly, so be sure to sign up as soon as possible. 
• The start of the Firecracker 50 Mountain Bike Race signals that the annual parade is about to begin. Leading off at 9:30 a.m., the 50-mile race begins on Main Street before riders head out on backcountry trails. 
• Before the race starts, get to Main Street early to find your perfect parade viewing spot. The route runs between Watson and Park avenues.
• Make your way to Ridge Street Art Square to enjoy Surfin' USA from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Find everything from a chalk art contest, beach games, dog fashion show, Beach Boys lip sync battle, and more. 
• The night ends with the annual National Repertory Orchestra concert at the Riverwalk Center at 6 p.m.
