Where to See Breathtaking Colors on a Breckenridge Fall Getaway

While there is still plenty of summer left to enjoy, it’s never too early to start looking ahead and planning a fall escape. For a fall vacation filled with memorable adventures and stunning scenery, pack your bags and head to Breckenridge. No trip to this Colorado town is complete without witnessing breathtaking fall foliage, and there are plenty of ways to do so near your rental from Alpine Meadows Management.

The 5 Best Spots for Leaf Peeping

While fall in Breckenridge brings cooler temperatures, this weather, combined with the high altitude, helps create stunning autumn hues. Leafs will start to change around early to mid-September, and you’ll have plenty of time to take in the vibrant colors.

  1. Hike the trails inside the French Gulch area that pass through Breckenridge. The Little French Gulch Trail is a 4.6-mile out-and-back that takes you along the creek as you work your way towards Mount Guyot. You can also go for a scenic drive along French Gulch Road, which passes by old mines.
  2. Another incredible scenic drive is the hour-long journey on Boreas Pass. The corridor starts in downtown and travels to the top of the Continental Divide. Be safe while taking in the views as you drive through this route, covered by a canopy of golden hues.
  3. With a name like Aspen Alley, it should be no surprise that this trail is excellent for enjoying some fall foliage. The almost three-mile trail is filled with aspens and is a popular path for both hikers and bikers.
  4. At just under three miles, the Sallie Barber Mine Trail is great for hikers of all skill levels. It generally takes visitors about an hour to complete the trail, and there are several other paths in the area if you want to extend your outing.
  5. Breckenridge’s Main Street is a popular attraction for shopping all year, but this spot is also an excellent location for fall scenery. Take in the colors as you wander in and out of local shops.

No matter where your leaf-peeping adventures take you, be sure your phone or camera is fully charged to capture the stunning examples of Mother Nature
